Coconut Cream Pie

My husband's favorite


1 cup sugar 1/4 cup flour 2 cups milk 3 eggs separated 1t vanilla 1 cup of coconut. ( I add enough to my taste.) 5 tablespoons sugar One prepared pie shell Stir together sugar and flour. Add milk slowly. Cook over medium heat until it begins to thicken. Pour some of milk mixture into stirred egg yolks. Then return to pan. Cook until it thick enough for your pie. Add vanilla and coconut. Pour into pie shell. Whip egg whites until frothy. Add sugar one tablespoon at a time. Whip until stiff. Spread on top of pie. Bake at 350 until brown.
