My Landlady's Ginger Snaps

My landlady used to leave these in my apartment as a surprise (weird, but definitely forgiveable considering how good they were).


3/4 cup unsalted butter 1 cup brown sugar 1 egg 1/4 cup molasses 2 cups all purpose flour 2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp ground cloves 2 tsp ground ginger 1/2 tsp salt White sugar 1. In a large bowl, beat together butter, brown sugar, egg and molasses 2. In a separate bowl, blend flour, baking soda, cloves, cinnamon, ginger and salt 3. Combine wet and dry ingredients, stirring until mixture forms a dough. 4. IMPORTANT! Chill at least 6 hours 5. Preheat oven to 340 F 6. Roll dough in balls, then coat in white sugar 7. Place 3 inches apart on baking sheets 8. Bake 10 minutes 9. Let cool 10 Serve at room temperature
